Wonderful stay. Clean, comfortable, up-to-date, beautiful. Very cozy indeed. Perfect location. Best stay in Northern Door in over 3 decades. Hate to recommend it so highly in case word got out but it was great.

Fantastic well equipped cabin close to Fish Creek

We stayed here for 3 nights for our anniversary. Great communication from the owner, the property itself is fantastic. Very well equipt, clean, comfortable with everything you need. Really felt at home.
Will for sure be back to visit door county and I hope it is in this cabin!

Neat, clean, conveniently located and a serene setting!

This was second stay at cozy cabin in the woods. The first stay was so positive I immediately thought of them when planning a return visit. The cabin is small enough to be cozy but roomy enough for the three adults on this trip. The setting is so serene and secluded that it intantly calms you. I would recommend this location to anyone!

Definitely cozy and the perfect cabin for our stay!

We arrived to a very clean cabin and for me, my husband, our 3.5 y/o toddler, and small dog, it was perfect! The owners left us chips and door county salsa too, which was a great touch! Kitchen very well stocked, cleaning supplies, soap, all there for our use. Beds were so comfy as was the furniture in the main room. The day bed was perfect for our little girl. We were amazed by the toys/puzzles/games/books/DVDs that were included in the cabin. Our little girl loved the Barbies!!! Gorgeous setting, fire pit, great central location in door county. We would love to come back!

Cozy Cabin in Door County

My husband and I brought our dog to the Cozy Cabin and the wooded setting was beautiful. The cabin was better than the pictures and clean. The cherry salsa was really good, something we never would have purchased. Our dog loved the walk set up around the property. We spotted deer on our first night. The cabin was easy access to restaurants, shopping and Peninsula State Park. We hope to stay again.

Wonderful Stay; We'll Be Back!

Best of both worlds location. With the deep setback from the very quiet road and forested setting, it is very peaceful. Yet, you are still in civilization and it is only a 5 minute drive to fish creek, ephraim, the peninsula state park, and very centrally located in Door County. We did not have the good fortune to spot deer by the salt lick but the bird feeders were very busy and hearing the coyotes howling at night raised the hairs on my neck (very cool). The cabin was extremely well kept and the recent renovations were apparent. We had 4 adults and 1 child and were very comfortable. They even had a jar of cherry salsa waiting for us which was a very nice touch. I would definitely recommend to family/friends.

The Cozy Cabin lived up to it's name

We were welcomed with a bag of chips and cherry salsa, which was really great, and a welcome post card, which my wife and I took home as a souvenir. Finding the cabin was not a problem. The layout was very organized, easy to access, comfortable and clean. There were so many activities to do at the cabin from the DVD's, to board games, to an outdoor gas grill, to a fire pit, to a full kitchen with pots, pans, and seasonings. My wife and I are from Chicago and life can get really busy, but coming to the Van Thiel's cabin was such a relaxing and comfortable place for the two of us the rest and re-energize. We will absolutely come back for future Door County adventures. Thanks for sharing such a great place!

Relaxing, Quiet and Great Location

This cabin has a great location. The wooded large lot was quiet and private. It is a short travel distance to all your northern Door County attractions. We used the grill, fire pit and some of the games in the cabin. The owners have been nice to work with and the cabin is well maintained and clean. I highly recommend this cabin. It is a very affordable family friendly destination.

Wonderful, sweet cabin!

Wonderful, tidy, clean cabin with all the essentials and no fussy frills. We were there on July 4 week,, so there were quite a few small planes flying in almost over our heads, but thankfully not at night, and this calmed down at the end of the weekend. My cell phone did not work there (my fault for having AT&T), so I would have appreciated having a land line. Loved the trail through the beautiful woods! Thank you for sharing your cabin!

Relaxing, Comfortable Get-Away

This was our second time staying at the Cozy Cabin and it was just as great as the first time. The owners are wonderful to work with and take great care in their rental, with attention to the finer details. The cabin is comfortable, extremely clean and so relaxing. Every morning, you wake to a wonderful view of birds, trees and beautiful sky, with a feeling that you are away from it all. Yet you are just minutes from Fish Creek, Egg Harbor, Peninsula Park and so much more. We highly recommend staying at the Cozy Cabin.

Fall vacation

My wife, dog, and I stayed here. It was very cozy as the name implies, but also spacious enough as to not be overwhelming. The cabin itself was not to far from any of the main towns or state parks. Even still with it being close to everything it is removed enough to be quiet and still. So kind of the perfect location and set up. I would highly recommend staying here.

My husband Jason and I stayed at the Cozy Cabin for our Door County honeymoon in October 2015. We couldn't have been more pleased! The location was ideal for everything we wanted to see/eat/do. A perfect place in the woods

The Cozy Cabin was wonderful. It was centrally located, well furnished and stocked. Great surroundings-loved feeding the birds (and squirrels and chipmunks) and seeing the deer. We felt so comfortable and relaxed--a perfect place to come "home" to after a busy day of helping the local economy. Being greeted with the cherry salsa was just the best! Thanks Kurt and Shelly. We are a long ways away (over 1000 miles), but hopefully we can return.

We loved our stay at the Cozy Cabin. From the moment we walked in we were very impressed by how lovely and cozy it was. The interior decorations and all the comforts of home form the games and movies to the stocked kitchen. We enjoyed the view from the picture window and seeing the squirrels and the deer. Filbert enjoyed checking out the woods and nature as well. We had a great time drving the back roads and seeing the sites of Door County. We were sad to leave and can't wait to come back again!! Great Cabin in the woods!!!

This was our first visit to Cozy Cabin in the Woods, and hopefully not the last. We visit Door County every Fall and this is the best place we have ever stayed. The cabin is perfectly located to take advantage of everything that Door County has to offer plus it is in a nice quiet location, so you can join the bustle of the towns or just enjoy the peace and quiet of the forest. We enjoyed watching the chickadees coming to the feeder and the deer to the salt lick. This cabin has such a well equipped kitchen that we could have made every meal there. Thank you Kurt and Shelley, for the welcoming chips and cherry salsa and for making this wonderful cabin available. It helped to make this trip one of the best we've had.

Always a great time! This was our fifth stay at CCITW and, while it had a different feel to it because we had our young son along for the first time, we still found sound respite after days of exploration with all Door County has to offer. Very Comfy Cabin!

We enjoyed our stay in the Cozy Cabin in the Woods. Well situated for sightseeing in the villages on both the Bay and Lake side of the peninsula. Appreciated the details -- tissues in every room, great cookware and dishes, hand soap, paper plates and towels, plastic ware for leftovers, plastic wrap, etc. We like to eat in for the majority of our meals, so these kitchen perks were appreciated. Our girls learned how to hand wash dishes and will never complain about loading or unloading the dishwasher again! Only drawback of the cabin was that the mosquitoes were voracious day and night, leaving us to enjoy the views of the woods from indoors. The large windows helped us feel like we were outdoors, but not the same as coffee on the veranda in the morning. A screened-in porch would be a great addition, adding both square footage and bug-free outdoor access! Appreciated having access to folding chairs, games, a phenomenal video collection, binoculars and bird book. Great that the girls had separate sleeping spaces and a half bath in the loft, though we early risers had to keep it down to avoid disturbing their beauty sleep! All in all, I would recommend this cabin. Thanks for the hospitality!

Loved it !

My Mom, dog and I stayed at the Cozy Cabin in the Woods and we loved it ! Everything was clean, beautiful furnishings and had everything we needed. My dog and I enjoyed our walk around the property. It is so nice that they offer such a nice place for someone that has a dog. It is so appreciated. We have stayed in several places in Door County and the cabin in the woods is our favorite. We loved the private woods, yet, the fact it is in such a convenient location. The only negative I can come up with is that there was no alarm clock, and that's not much of a negative. We will absolutely be back. Thank you Shelly for sharing your beautiful cabin.

We had such a fun time visiting Door County over Memorial Day weekend. The Cozy Cabin was beautiful. It seems like it's had some recent updates! What a great space for our 3 young girls and us. When we weren't off exploring what the area had to offer, we loved filling the bird feeders, having camp fires, watching movies (they have a TON), and playing games (again... tons!) at the cabin. The only thing we might recommend would be to throw some blinds or shades up in the master bedroom. The curtains didn't do much to keep the sun out early in the morning :). Still awesome and highly recommended!!!!! Thanks so much for your hospitality!

Best. Honeymoon. Ever.

We stayed at the Cozy Cabin in the Woods for our late April honeymoon and it was perfect! It's such an adorable, impeccably maintained cabin. The owners have thought of everything from the fully furnished kitchen to the bird seed to the bikes. I honestly do not have even one complaint. It was everything we wanted it to be and we will stay here every year for our anniversary until we find our own Cozy Cabin to buy!

Warm and Welcoming

Hi, We were fortunate enough to be able to celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday at the cabin. It was well equipped and had everything we needed to cook our Thanksgiving meal. Really loved the openness of the main floor, the kitchen, dining area and living room all flow together. The entire set up is very thoughtful with board games, bird seed for the feeders (entertained our dogs for the entire stay) just to name a few. It is also in a very convenient area being close to town. I would definitely recommend this cabin for a family or just girls get away. I hope to come back!

Great location

Very clean and quiet location. Saw deer a couple of times and could watch the squirrels and birds from the living room. Lovely private patio with grill. Too bad it was a little too cool eat outdoors. Probably one of the best furnished kitchens that we've had in a rental property. We would return to this property in the future. Bathroom is small with shower stall but OK for 2 people. Not much room to hang towels.

A clean, comfortable and wonderfully relaxing place to stay!

We were looking forward to our trip to Door County all summer and were very excited to find the Cozy Cabin-- It is very conveniently located off of hwy 42 close to Fish Creek, Ephraim and Penninsula State Park. It is quiet, very clean and very well stocked with everything we needed (games, puzzles, maps and area info, firepit and grill, kitchen essentials) and even a few things we forgot (paper plates and coffee filters!) and didn't expect (space for the kids to run around and a well marked path around the outside of the property that my little ones loved to explore!) We loved waking up every morning looking out into the woods! At night we heard coyotes and owls and during the day we saw turkeys and deer! A great relaxing place to stay! The only problem we had was that I did not realize that the upstairs bedrooms were completely open to the floor below (a full loft experience) so all noise from upstairs went downstairs and adults wanting to hang out downstairs at night kept the kids awake upstairs. Maybe I read the description wrong, but it did make the evenings a little more complicated getting everyone to sleep! For anyone traveling with kids-- the spiral staircase is VERY narrow and steep! The kids figured it out and everything worked out fine, but definitely be aware of who is upstairs and their ability to get up and down safely. Only other tiny complaint--- the welcome card was written to someone else:( Oh well!)

Great location, perfect for families

We enjoyed a week at the cozy cabin in early August. This cabin is in a great location, minutes to everything yet still tucked away. While cozy, it was spacious enough for us and our 4 kids, three of them large teen boys. The loft was perfect for the kids although a few nights boys were just sprawled out on the comfortable living room floor. It was so nice to have that extra half bath in the loft for them. We cooked most nights and had everything we needed. I even pitted an insane amount of cherries we picked in the kitchen sink! Used the grill a few nights and kids enjoyed making a fire in the firepit and having smores. My daughter loved the spiral staircase. One of the best parts was being able to bring our dog with us on vacation. She enjoyed walks in the woods and had her first experience seeing a squirrel. We also saw a few raccoons walk by one evening. Worth mentioning is there is no washer and dryer on property. I do believe there is a laundrymat in Sister Bay if needed though. All in all a great visit for the family, highly recommend this property.

2nd stay was as magnificent as the first!

This was our second stay at Cozy Cabin In the Woods. I hesitate giving it to high of a rating only because I don't want it to be booked when we book a 3rd time! Honestly, we love this place. If you are looking for a well kept cabin tucked in the woods with wildlife abound, and a comfortable, clean and quiet place you can bring your pooch, this is for you. Our kids love the loft, each with their own quaint and comfortable bedroom. I found myself not wanting to move from the large picture window with beautiful nature staring right back at me. You are centrally located between 2 of the best towns in Door County, Fish Creek and Ephraim. Yet, when you are at the cabin, you will feel you are so far away from it all as it is nicely secluded and tucked in the woods. The owners go all out to make sure it is stocked with things to make your stay easy and comfortable (kitchen cooking supplies, DVD's, bikes to ride, few toys for kids, games for everyone, some books, etc). The only thing I found myself yearning was a hammock! You won't be disappointed.

Best place to stay in Door County

We have stayed in Door County many times. Of all the hotels and cabins we've stayed in, this was by far the best in terms of cleanliness and location. The cabin is centrally located so you can get to many attractions throughout Door County quickly but it is also secluded so you don't have traffic and other distractions. The kids and the dog loved it and so did we. We will definitely be back.

We booked this cabin at the last minute, and they had a cancellation. communication with the owner was prompt and made booking smooth. This cabin is very well cared for and I loved the way it was decorated. It's very clean and it's located in the woods but right off a quiet street with other homes. It's located between Fish Creek and Ephraim, so driving to town is easy. All the rooms have nice windows with views of nature and woods. This was my first time renting with VRBO, I'd rented with Airbnb several times and I prefer to rent privately now as my first choice!

Exceeded our expectations!

Our stay in the Cozy Cabin was AMAZING and it exceeded our expectations! The whole family loved the trail behind the cabin, the bird feeder where we saw everything from blue jays to little yellow finches, and the fire pit! The cabin had everything you could need and or want as far as dishes and other cooking amenities. The bedrooms and living room were spacious and comfortable without three people and a dog being cramped. The family and I enjoyed the movie selection and cooking dinner at "home" so we didn't have to go out and spend money every night on dinner. There was much to look at, games to play and a beautiful scenery to enjoy while we were there. I would say this is our go to place to stay in Door County! Its perfect for a family, pets and a nice getaway without the hotel setting! It also is located in a great spot where you can go up and down the peninsula with ease! We would stay here again in a heartbeat. The cabin was also very clean and well kept unlike many hotels. It was so quiet during the night we all felt so much more rested. To top it all off, the family dog had the best of times walking the trail on an average of three times a day and loved listening to the nature outside! We will DEFFINITLY be back to the Cozy Cabin :)! LOVED IT!

My husband and I, along with our Brittany spent three nights over my birthday in March, 2014. The views from every window are beautiful and so relaxing. The dog had fun being able to be with us and loved sitting by the windows just watching what ever has going on outside. The location is so close to Peninsula State Park, Fish Creek and Ephraim, so plenty to see and do. This is a perfect place as a base for families with pets.

Great Thanksgiving getaway!

I stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend as a holiday getaway. It was perfect! I cooked Thanksgiving dinner in the kitchen and then spent the rest of the time exploring Door County and reading (or watching the great movie selection) at the cabin. It was conveniently located for several state parks, and it was a perfect warm and cozy place to come home to after a day of hiking in the cold snow. I brought my dog along, who loved romping in the yard but was not a fan of the spiral staircase :) The cabin was smartly decorated, just the right size, and just isolated enough to feel like I was on a retreat. Thanks for the great property!

My partner and I take my mother and our dog to Door County each fall. We've stayed at a different place each time because we hadn't found the perfect place, the one we'd want to stay at again. We have now found it!! This is truly a cozy cabin in the woods. It accommodated all of us beautifully. While the fall leaves were stunning, the weather was not - which made for much more inside time. We all, repeatedly, said we were so happy to be staying at the Cozy Cabin in the Woods since we were spending more time indoors than we typically do. Thanks for offering such a beautiful getaway - and we will be back next year!

Thank you Shelly and Kurt for the chips and dip, and jelly. Visited Seaquist Orchard and several shops in the area and loved the fish sandwich and root beer float at Wilson's Ice Cream Parlor. Saw a very funny play at the Peninsula Playhouse. The cabin was very clean and well equipped. Hope to go again.

My family has been coming to Door County for 10+ years. Several years back, we were happy to find some DC rental's welcomed pets! We had found a place we liked in Egg Harbor, but didn't like the busy area it was in. We searched again and located "Cozy Cabin In the Woods". Even prior to our stay, owner's made us feel comfortable by answering all of our questions! We wanted this to be the perfect getaway! It was just that. Cozy Cabin offered us a nice place to call "home" for a week+. The convenient yet peaceful location in the woods was perfect for spending time together and coming back after all our outings in Door County. Our kids loved their bedrooms in their loft-like area. Our dogs loved the walks in the woods (as well as did we). We enjoyed star gazing, fires in the fire pit at night, watching deers and birds just outside our windows & playing games in the yard. The owners are great at stocking the cabin and even provide outdoor games and bikes for guest use. We had such a great time. What we didn't know is that shortly after our stay, we would have to put our family dog of 16 years down. We were comforted by the fact that we spent so much time with him at the Cozy Cabin in The Woods! We will definitely return, again and again. Thank You Shelly and Kurt for sharing your wonderful cabin for other's to use!

This Cabin deserves much more than 5 stars!

I have been coming up to Door County for 35 of my 40 years. My mom used to bring us up there as kids and I have been bringing my kids since they were born. We all love Door County. Needless to say we have rented many houses, cottages, and cabins on the Peninsula during that time and the Cozy Cabin in the Woods was by far the best home away from home. The cabin was very clean and welcoming. It was decorated very nicely and you could tell that the owners took care in each of their decisions. It had all of the accommodations of home and then some. We had three older teenagers with us this time and they had a blast. There was enough space for everyone but it was still small enough that we made lifetime vacation memories. We enjoyed sitting out by the fire together and playing games around the kitchen table until the wee hours of the morning laughing and talking. I would highly recommend the Cozy Cabin in the Woods for your next vacation rental.

This was our first time exploring Door County and we couldn’t have picked a better cabin for our stay. The home is immaculate and well equipped. Another advantage is its private wooded location near wonderful local restaurants in Fish Creek and Ephraim. There were a few meals we made at the cabin and the kitchen was well supplied with everything we needed to cook on site. After hiking, biking, and site-seeing at night it was wonderful to sleep on comfortable beds. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back!

We spent a week at Cozy Cabin in the Woods and it was simply amazing. We've been coming to Door Co. for 5 years and this is by far the best place we have stayed. It was very clean, tastefully decorated, welcoming, safe and beautiful! Our family of 4 plus 2 dogs were very comfortable. The woods were wonderful for fires, we even listened to coyotes chatter. There was a plump little squirrel that spent his morning teasing our dogs, even a few deer came to visit. Beautiful birds to watch, movies, games, a good and hot shower and all the comforts of the beauty of Door Co, this was a tough vacation to end. We'll be back. In fact, we're counting the days. Thank you for a wonderfully comfortable vacation!!

My wife and I decided to stay here for our honeymoon based on a recommendation and couldn't have been happier! It was very clean and perfect for a nice getaway. Besides the occasional car driving by it is in a very quiet and relaxing location. It is really close to anything you may need around town as well. The house is very well maintained and has everything you would need if you didn't want to leave the house. We will be coming back for sure!

What a great place to stay and the owners were fantastic to work with! Super cute, very clean and well maintained. Kurt and Shelly have thought of everything including a nice selection of family games and movies and even a welcome surprise:) Great location- minutes from Peninsula State Park. Our family of 5 was very comfortable and will stay again when we go up to Door County! Thanks for everything!

Just as cute as advertised. Perfect location; close to everything yet tucked away so you really feel removed from whatever you're escaping. The cabin is CLEAN!! We hiked the State Parks, visited some wineries and walked our dogs in the woods. A great getaway.

Our family of three and our little dog had a wonderful week long vacation here. The Cozy Cabin in the woods was delightful! It was super clean and comfortable. When it was time to leave we were all a little sad. The owners really show pride in taking care of the place. It's decorated super cute, and has everything you need, especially in the fully stocked kitchen. It's also a perfect location super close to Peninsula State Park and also right in the middle of Door County so you can check out the other towns either North or South of the cabin without driving far at all. The wooded setting is beautiful and very private. The owners included plenty of games and movies for the family to use and tons of guides of things to do in Door County. I would recommend this cabin to families, couples, retirees, & people with pets. Our dog LOVED it here, especially exploring the nice walking path in the woods around their property. We would definitely come back to this cabin, and are already thinking about making plans for next summer! I would recommend bringing food along and taking advantage of cooking meals in their fully stocked kitchen and using their nice outdoor grill.(we cooked lots of breakfasts and dinners at the cabin.) The best breakfast place is "Al Johnson's" Swedish Restaurant in Sister Bay, where they have live goats on the roof, out 4 year old son loved it! We also went out to dinner a couple times at "Julie's Park Cafe" located right by Peninsula State Park. (delicious food at affordable prices, great fish fry, and your dog can eat with you at their outdoor dining section.) Also, be sure to check out Cave Point Park and Whitefish Sand Dunes, they have a dog beach that is lots of fun!

My cozy cabin stay.

The cabin was a great place to stay. I dearly appreciated having my pups with us. I also appreciated having a decently equipped kitchen. I brought pans, utensils, saran wrap, etc. with me...not knowing that many items were supplied already. We cooked all of our meals there. The location was perfect for us. We were able to bike to Peninsula Scool of Art for class every day. It was also very close to the Ephraim beach. We used some of the other amenities you had available, like movies and puzzles. We brought our own bikes, though my daughter did try yours. (You have a flat tire on one of them. I tried to fill it, but there is a big hole.) The only thing that didn't work was the outdoor propane fireplace. The line must be blocked, as it didn't work even when I tried the full propane tank in the shed. Thanks for the thoughtful welcome gifts when we arrived! I loved the attention to details.

Great week!

Had a lovely time up in Door County over the week of the 4th of July. Everything was in order when we arrived and the owners were very helpful with information to make us comfortable in the cabin and to help us take full advantage of the many things to do in the area. "Cozy Cabin in the Woods" perfectly describes this cabin. I would recommend this property to a friend or relative. My only caution would be the circular staircase to the loft. It was fine for us, but to be on the safe side I chose not to let my elderly parent use it. There was a great binder, full of ideas of things to do. It was a very hot week so we made great use of the beaches. (there is no air conditioning in the cabin, but the fans provided did their job) My husband and daughter had a lovely kayak tour and we all enjoyed "The American Folklore Theatre" one evening. A visit to a winery was another excursion, along with stops at some markets and shops. We enjoyed the fireworks in Egg Harbor, golfing, a night at the "drive-in" and the beautiful State Parks. The beauty of Door County and the care the owners take of both the property and their renters made this a great family vacation.

We loved our stay at this beautiful cabin. The owners did a very good job in keeping it cozy, clean and supplied with everything we needed (even Barbie dolls for our 2 year old daughter:) The location was great, very close to Peninsula State Park, Fish Creek and other towns, yet we had plenty of privacy and really enjoyed the woods surrounding the cabin. We'll definitely come back again! The Urbonas Family

What a cute cabin!   My weekend was very relaxing and comfortable.   Was in town for the Fish Creek Winter Festival and this cabin was close to town but yet secluded.   The bed was very comfortable and I slept like a rock.   The kitchen had everything I needed.   This cabin is very clean and it is obvious the owners take great pride in providing a nice experience for their guests.   Many birds and other wildlife right outside the window.    Can't wait to come back and see Door County in the summer!!!
